No animal can live without food. Food is necessary for all of us. All men and animals take food. In very old times man used to eat raw food like fish, root, fruit and flesh. Now-a-days most of our food is cooked. Only fruits and some vegetables are eaten raw.
Food varies according to taste and surrounding. Different people eat different kinds of food. In eastern and southern part of our country people mostly eat rice and pulses. In central and north India chapaties are also eaten. Some people eat only vegetarian food. Others eat eggs, meat and fish also. Milk and milk products are also taken widely. For cooking food oil, butter or fat is used everywhere. Honey is also eaten by many.
Rice, wheat, maize, sugar, potatoes and oil give us energy. Milk, honey , meat, eggs and pulses give us proteins which we need for growing. Fruits and vegetables keep us in good health. It is necessary that all the three kinds of food should be taken. It is called balanced diet. Balanced diet gives nutrition.
Milk, honey, meat, and eggs are obtained from animals. Honey is taken from beehives. Rice, wheat, maize and pulses are grown in fields. Vegetables also come from the sugarcane grown in fields. Many people work to grow and collect food for us.
We should have our breakfast, lunch and supper at fixed hours. We should cook only fresh vegetables and meat. Freshly cooked food should be eaten. Stale food makes us lazy and sick. We should clean our hands before having food and should keep our plates and cooking pots clean.
