India (My Country) is a land of beauty and diversity. She offers fine scenic contrasts. People from all over the world come to see them.
In the north of our country there is Kashmir valley, famous for its natural beauty. In Srinagar there are the Dal Lake, Shalimar and Nishat gardens. Gulmarg, Sonemarg and Pahalgaon in Kashmir valley are famous beauty sports of the world.
Delhi, the capital of India, blends a historic past and a glorious present. In the days of the Pandavas, people called it Indraprastha. The Red Fort is the most impressive building in Delhi. The Qutub Minar is one of the tallest towers in India.
Jaipur in Rajasthan in known as the 'pink city'. The observatory and the Hawa Mahal are worth-seeing there. One can see many things of historical importance in Chittaur, Udaipur, Ajmer and the other cities of Rajasthan. Bharatpur is famous for its bird sanctuary.
The Taj at Agra in one of the most beautiful buildings of the world. It was build by the Mughal emperor, Shahjahan, in meory of his beloved queen, Mumtaz Mahal. It is made of white marble. The Taj is peerless in beauty.
Varanasi is a centre of Hindu pilgrimage. It is situated on the left bank of the sacred river Ganga. The ghats attract people from far and near for the most fascinating scenes. On the outskirts of Varanasi is Sarnath, the centre of Buddhist pilgrimage. Lord Buddha first preached his doctrines here.
The rock-cut temples of Ajanta and Ellora in Maharastra are world-famous. They are the most remarkable monuments of their kind. Kailash temple at Ellora is a unique piece of art.
Kanyakumari is one the southern-the Bay of Bengal, the Indian ocean and the Arabian sea. The historically famous Vivekanand Rock is at a stone's throw from here.
How beautiful and wonderful our country is! We love our motherland (our Country) and are proud of her.
